Grading
The basic calculation of the GPA requirement for entry to US universities is determined by British-Patterned Grading Scales based on General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE ) and Scottish Secondary Education grades (Lowers).
For entry at age 18, unless taken at an earlier age, "A" levels, a BTEC National Diploma or Scottish Highers are not used to calculate initial eligibility to a US university sports programme unless posted before the closure of US university Admissions deadlines. Advanced Level or BTEC grades will increase the students GPA for entry during induction week and when entering at age 19 or later.
US universities award sports scholarships by precisely defined dates and in the case of "Fall" sports such as soccer these dates do not correspond with the publication of Advanced Level or BTEC or other grades.
