Tesside to Tennessee Success
Philip Wilson left Middlesborough College Academy in 2006 for Milligan College in Tennessee with a US Soccer Scholarship arranged by PASS4SOCCER. Philip like many other players who leave Tesside for the States benefitted from working under Academy Head Coach Andy Toman.
He says, " I would just like to thank you again for guiding me and helping me gain this great opportunity here in the US. During my sophmore season at Milligan I played attacking midfield and earned: 1st team All-Conference, 1st team All-Region XII and All-American honorable mention so overall it was a great season for me. I'm currently playing PDL for the summer in North Carolina for the Cary Railhawks U-23 team. This is a quality outfit. I am playing with some of the best college players in the country and the facilities are unbelievable".
Philip was one of those players without any representative honours from school or college but who through sheer determination and hard work both on the field and in the classroom has continued to develop his game. We have no doubt Philip will have a crack at the MLS when he graduates in 2010.
