US Representative appointed.

 

Derrick Leeson who was inducted into the NAIA Hall of Fame in 2003 has joined PASS4SOCCER as US director bringing over 20 years of success and experience into play on behalf of student athletes seeking US soccer scholarships.

As a player at West Virginia Wesleyan College Derrick gained All American Team honours in 1984, 1985 and 1986. After graduating in 1987 with a BSc Physical Education left Buckhannon to become assistant coach at James Madison University in Harrisonburg Virginia where he completed his Masters degree MS Edu. Back to WVWC in 1989 as Head Coach Derrick became the first person in NAIA histoty to play on and later coach the same team to consecutive National Championships.  

In 1991 Derrick moved up to Head Coach at Campbell University and in 11 years there guided the team to 9 post season Championship titles and 2 Big South Championships. In all Derrick has achieved 7 Coach of the Year awards.

In 2002 he became Head Coach with Capital Area Soccer in Raleigh, North Carolina with much success and in 2007 he moved to South Charlotte Soccer Association (SCSA). SCSA is one of the 64 US Soccer Development Academies. Derrick coaches the SCSA's premier U18 squad.

In addition to his considerable playing and coaching successes Derrick is former member of the NCAA South Advisory Committee, NSCAA National Rating Board and the US Olympic Development Association. Derrick lives in Charlotte with wife Kendal and daughters Sara and Lily.

His appointment is tribute to Derrick's belief in the power of Higher Education through soccer and the PASS4SOCCER mission.
