Pass4Soccer clients win National Championship
Pass4Soccer clients James Ness, Luke Huggett, Mike James-Moon, Jake Currie and Alan Kelly were celebrating being crowned National Champions this weekend. All 5 of the players played a significant role in Cloud County Community College winning the 2011 NJCAA DI National Championship in Phoenix, Arizona.
Ness, Huggett and Moon are sophomores and will now be moving onto 4 year institutions to carry on their soccer and education. Off the back of such a strong season, all 3 will have generated big interest amongst powerhouse soccer programmes all over the nation. As Currie and Kelly are Freshman, they will be leading Cloud in 2012 in the hope of retaining the National title.
Cloud struck first as German "Viola" Solano scored three minutes into the 1st half. Goal two came from Francis Villalta with 44 seconds left in the 1st half.
Monroe scored their first and only goal with under 15 minutes left to play. CCCC answered right back with a goal by Adam Halliday. Solano added the fourth goal for the T-Birds with less than three minutes to play to close out the 4-1 win.
German Solano was selected as the tournament’s Most Valuable Player. Luke Huggett and Neil O'Sullivan were also named to the All Tournament Team. CCCC soccer coach Steve Ralos was named the NJCAA Men’s Soccer Coach of the Year.
On their way to the National Championship, Cloud County defeated #6 Lincoln College (IL) 4-0 on Thursday. On Friday, the Thunderbirds handed #2 Tyler Junior College (TX) a 3-1 loss after two overtimes in penalty kicks. Tyler was the defending back-to-back national champion.
This was Cloud County Community College’s first appearance at the NJCAA Men’s Soccer National Championship. Cloud County ends their season 21-1-3.
