2009 Freshmen Feedback

"Hi Barry & Daniel

How are things back in the UK?

I have decided to spend the Summer here in the States rather than come home and just wanted to send you an email of thanks now that my first year at college in the US has come to a close!
It has been a thoroughly enjoyable year out here; football wise I have learnt so much during my Freshman year. As you counselled, I had my trials and tribulations and personal ups and downs throughout the season but have definately become a better player from it.

The training most days as well as school is tough but I wouldn't want it any other way. Because of our succesful season last Fall we have a tougher schedule this up and coming Fall as well as a great new batch of players coming in.
I am staying out here most of the Summer to make ceratin I improve, make sure I get fully prepared for playing in the heat which caught me out a little when I arrived last August and to hit the pitch fully prepared for next season.

I will be playing for the Baltimore Bays U19s and joined the DC United Academy U20s which will be a great standard to play throughout the Summer!
Schoolwise I have done well too! I got a 3.0 first semester and a 3.154 in the spring so my culmulative GPA is 3.071. I am planning to declare a major in economics in the Fall.
I am loving the American way of life and I am so grateful for the way you helped me gain this scholarship at such a prestigous DI school. Without you guys this would not have been possible!

I am trying to make the most of it in everything I do and know that the experience is not just helping my football but also my academics. I can't think of anything I would rather be doing than having a great time at university in America!
Thanks again and I hope everything at Pass4 is going well, Joe"

Director Barry Poole comments, " Joe's email is one of many we receive that pleases us and makes the hard work put in to recommending student athletes to appropriate institutions so rewarding.

Joe's comments typify the under lying need for hard work both in the Classroom and on the Pitch. With social events and so many other demands outside of the classroom, training, travelling and playing, the need for the management of time is crucial.

However, we know from the feedback from coaches at this university that the right attitude and an acceptance by freshmen (women) of the need to give 100% in Class and their place in the program whether a starter or not is so important.
