Clearing

For NCAA DI and DII universities student athletes are required to be certified by the NCAA Eligibility Center.

Prospective students must register directly with the NCAA Eligibility Center, supply verification of their academic achievements, supply details of their entry test results and complete various forms on line. Clearing can be applied for before test results are known. The registration fee for international student athletes is $85.

The NCAA ID number can be supplied to a university once interest or invitation to apply has been received from the coach. This process can take time. In 2008 there were over 400,000 student athletes studying in NCAA institutions!

For NAIA institutions the university or college Admissions Office will take over once the Athletic Department make a formal offer. Making certain the Admission process is completed is the responsibility of the individual student. Recruiting coaches are required to validate eligibility and receive formal acceptance from their Admissions Director.
